✌️ ask the dang question, bestie
stop gaslighting yourself.

Hey 👋 fancy seeing you here.
Welcome to the first round of ✨Organized Chaos✨. The only emerging tech marketing newsletter that combines all of your favorite things: career tips, tech rundowns and the sh** we get into outside of our 9-5.
First order of business: This is your space [though, technically I am the one with the keyboard]. Let’s make sure no stone goes unturned. Remember those advice columns you used to read in magazines? I want to do the same thing, except digitally. So you stop doing this 👇

Here’s my ask ➡ send me an email! Seriously.
It can be about anything - life, strategy, career, or something in-between. All you need to do is press send & I’ll handle the rest. Every other week, I’ll be answering your questions here & on the podcast, so there are plenty of chances to get the answers you’re looking for 😎
Alrighty, enough from me. Let’s get into it ⤵️

LOL, guess who went viral on TikTok last week? Me. And in a wild turn of events, Betches even reposted it on Instagram. Why? I’m not sure. But if you’re in the mood for a laugh and want to see some wild work gossip that you have 0 emotional attachment to, click here.
Vanessa Tay, the Interim CMO @ Fireblocks, and I sat down to discuss her wild journey building a sustainable marketing program to support a hyper-growth SAAS scale up [🤯 hello $8BN valuation].
Christmas is 42 days away. And I, as any good Zillennial, am very proud to say that my flat is a full winter wonderland and the dopamine receptors in my brain could not be happier. If you’re also early to the x-mas game, welcome to the club! If you’re thinking “wow, it’s far too early”, stop being a grinch and keep those thoughts to yourself tysm 🙃
dear regan…
Help, please! I recently started a new role as the Director of Marketing in EMEA for a scale-up B2B SaaS company, and I feel a bit overwhelmed. I’ll have 3 direct reports and will need to do an equal amount of execution and strategy. Also we work remotely, so I don’t have an office to go into every day. I feel like you’ve been here before? Can you offer some advice on where to begin and key strategies I should focus on to make a significant impact in this role?
I’ll love you forever.
my answer ⤵️
Woof, ok I’ve been there before. You’re stoked because you’ve signed a fancy new job. [CONGRATS btw 🥳], but then you actually get there and start to question everything. Take a deep breath. You’ve got this and will 100% kick ass.
Step 1: In the first 90 days, DO NOT make changes. I repeat. If you make changes, you will only cause chaos [not the good kind] in your team. Respect the culture. Respect the work they’ve done so far. And respect your people.
Step 2: Meet your team & stakeholders [and learn at least one personal fact about them]. Early in my career, I had a manager that made a point to sit down with every newbie on their first day and find one thing she had in common with them, which then became their new 1:1 meeting name. It immediately made me like her. Who knew such a small thing could create so much trust?
Step 3: DYOR [do your own research]
Study. All. The. Things. // blogs, social media, webinars, newsletters.
Review the data // what works & what channels perform?
Evaluate the budget // what’s been spent & what’s left?
Learn the marketing SOPs // keep an open mind.
Talk to customers // learn what drives them.
Step 4: Use. The. Product. [seriously, this one’s important] How on earth can you expect to market the product without using it first?
Step 5: Ask your questions [yes, even the “dumb” ones]. One of the worst ways to gaslight yourself is by not asking a question because “you don't feel like it's valid”. That is ridiculous. The first couple of weeks are when you have the leeway to ask the silliest questions, so take advantage of it!
Stop a meeting. Get your voice heard. And use it as a chance to show that you give a sh** about what you’re working on. If you're going to make changes, you need to have all of the information at your fingertips. The only way you can make sure you have the right info is if you ask all of the questions.

🎁 Cool gift idea: Boss Beauties is releasing a book just in time for IWD next year. Profiling strong, independent & kick-ass women along with a collection of digital collectibles - I will 100% be putting this on my wish list.

And that’s a wrap!
